Dolphins to Hire Bush Hamdan as Quarterbacks Coach
CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reports that the Miami Dolphins are poised to hire Bush Hamdan, associate head coach for offense at Mississippi State, to be their next quarterbacks coach.
Hamdan had just taken a role with Mississippi State this off-season, but is leaving to accept the Dolphins’ offer. This mirrors a move recently seen with Nate Hackett, who agreed to coach the Dolphins’ quarterbacks but, before joining, departed to become the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive coordinator.
Hamdan brings a broad coaching background, largely at the college level. In 2017, he served a single season as the Atlanta Falcons’ quarterbacks coach, working with Matt Ryan that year.
Before accepting the Mississippi State position, Hamdan was Kentucky’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2024 to 2025.
Prior to that, in 2023, he held Boise State’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach responsibilities.
From 2020 to 2022, he was Missouri’s quarterbacks coach.
Reports on Thursday evening indicated the Dolphins were denied permission to interview Detroit Lions offensive assistant Bruce Gradkowski for the quarterbacks coach role. (https://dolphinstalk.com/2026/02/dolphins-denied-to-speak-to-bruce-gradkowski-about-qb-coach-role/)
The Dolphins are expected to hire Hamdan, Mississippi State’s associate head coach for offense, as quarterbacks coach, according to sources cited by CBS Sports.

And this is the part that could spark debate: the Dolphins’ frequent coaching staff changes and the potential impact of bringing in a college-focused offensive mind to mentor the quarterback position. Do you think Hamdan’s college-only background will translate effectively to the NFL, or will this be another case of a promising coordinator move that doesn’t pan out at the pro level?
